Sanghyun Hong


About me

I have been working on environmental and economic impacts of human acts particularly energy production and consumption. My Ph.D research topic was ‘Evaluating the sustainability of future energy mixes’. Before I joined D.E.E.P group, I worked in the University of Birmingham, the U.K. (not U.S.A.) as an Energy Storage Research Fellow. I have an interest in the inter-relation between human acts and environmental changes, and hope to find an answer to a question, ‘how can human and the environment survive together?’ My D.E.E.P research topic was about the environmental impacts (emissions, pollution, land use etc.) of energy production, energy consumption, food demand and urbanisation.

Research with DEEP

“Undertaking research into the impact of energy development and urbanisation on land-use change, using historical analysis and model-based stochastic forecasts.”

I worked  in the D.E.E.P research group supported by an ARC Australian Laureate Fellowship grant to Prof. Barry Brook. This focused on large-scale data analysis and computer modelling-simulations. My research topic focused on sectoral analyses of energy/fuels and urbanisation, as well as model-based integration of outputs from complementary research streams.
